Dr. Hawley received his training and certification through theraLASE. Cold laser therapy is a modality used to treat a variety of conditions, including joint sprains, muscle strains, swelling and inflammation in joints, pain associated with wounds and burns, muscle spasms, carpal tunnel syndrome, low back and neck pain, as well as various knee and elbow injures.
Laser therapy works by stimulating the production of ATP (cellular fuel that the body uses to function), which promotes faster healing. It also increases cellular permeability, which means that wastes products and nutrients move in and out of the cell faster and more efficiently. It has also been demonstrated to increase immune cell production (lymphocytes) as well as the production of the body’s own pain relievers called endorphins.
